A Few Reminders...

Parents, just a few reminders as we get close to our performance night... please make sure your daughters are on time (if not early) for rehearsals tomorrow. We are on a tight schedule and we need everyone there at the right times! Also, make sure you mark all of your daughter cotsumes, shoes, bags, etc. so if something gets mixed up or left, we can make sure it gets where it belongs. Make sure when you drop your daughters off for the performance that the have NO GUM, their ballet shoes are tied with laces tucked in, and that they have all jewelry and fingernail polish off! Thank you for checking this for us. A Lost and Found box will be at the rehearsal tomorrow and at the performance. Please check it for anything you may be missing. After the performance, we will be taking all of the items to the DI. And lastly, if you haven't ordered a DVD of the performance, your last chance to do so will be at the rehearsal tomorrow. The girls looked so cute at pictures! I'm excited to see how it goes tomorrow! If you have any questions or concerns, let me know. Thank you!

NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER

Hello parents, I wanted to let you all know that classes are coming along GREAT! We have costumes ordered and the teachers have started on choreography for the Christmas Recital. Thank you all for letting us teach your children, they are looking so good! Here is what is going on at the studio this month.

Attendance
Please remember that it is SO important that your children are in their classes EVERY week from now until performance. They are learning their recital dances and it is very difficult to have to go back and reteach things from the previous weeks. Please do everything you can to get your children to class on time. This also makes things much easier!

Payments & Holidays
November tuition is due and if you haven’t already paid for your children’s costume(s) in full, payment is due by the 15th of this month. Check your account on Studio Director or call Heidi if you need to know your account balance. The studio will be closed Wednesday November 23, Thursday November 24, and Friday November 25 due to Thanksgiving break. Looking forward…please note that the performance fee of $35 per family will be due with December’s tuition.

“What Christmas Means To Me”-CHANGE OF DATES
American Fork High School has had some scheduling changes and has told us that we need to move our performance date. This is a great venue to have our performances at, so we will be having our Spacing and Dress Rehearsal on Wednesday, December 14th from 4:00-9:00pm. The performance will be on Thursday, December 15th at 7:30. PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF DATE AND MARK THIS IN YOUR CALENDARS!!! Because of the performance fee, there are no tickets sold for the show. Please invite your family and friends to come and enjoy our show. It’s going to be magical!

Recital Pictures-CHANGE OF DATE
Because we want pictures to be before the performance, we will be having our “What Christmas Means To Me” Pictures at Cory Adams Photography on Monday, December 12 starting at 3:30. Please mark this date in your calendar! Even if you don’t order pictures, we want every child to be in the group photos that we hang on the wall in the studio! I will send a schedule of times in December’s Newsletter. Or check timpschoolofdance.blogspot.com for an updated schedule.

Christmas Performance Chaperones
We are looking for anyone who would be able to help at the Christmas performance. There is a sign up sheet in the studio on the front bulletin board. You will have to be in the dressing rooms watching children during the show or rehearsal, but we need help to keep the children safe and happy! We will be using our staff for other jobs, and some of them will be performing, so if you can help in this area, we would really appreciate it!

What Christmas Means To Me DVD
Big Think Marketing & Media will be doing our DVD’s for this performance. They have done several of our DVD’s from prior years and they have turned out great! If you would like to order your DVD for $20.00, please bring your money in to the studio and give it to Heidi. You can also order it at pictures. Please make sure to order your DVD before the show. There are not going to be extra copies made. All DVD’s will be available for pick up at the studio. I will let you know when I get them in. Remember there will be NO personal video taping allowed at our show!

Costumes
Please remember that costumes can not be handed out if your costume fee is not paid. Also, please remember that ballet and combo classes will need to have pink tights and pink ballet shoes. Jazz classes need tan tights that are available at Glass Slipper and also tan jazz shoes.
The following classes need to provide things also:
Sr Co Ballet B: Holiday Pajama Pants and a white T-shirt
Sr Co Jazz A: Black dance shorts
Sr Co Jazz B: Black dance shorts
Jr Co Jazz Technique (Mon): Black dance shorts
Hip Hop 9+: Black pants (either jazz pants or sweats)
Hip Hop 5-8 and Boys: Black pants (either jazz pants or sweats)

If you have any questions, please contact Heidi at 801-602-9196.

As the “What Christmas Means To Me” performance draws near, it is important that you understand some of our -

Performance Policies:

First,
There will be absolutely no unauthorized parent or adult allowed backstage during a dress rehearsal or performance. All hugs, kisses, and pictures must be done before your child gets to the drop off point or after the show. Safety of your children is our number one concern. Sign up sheets for back stage parents are posted in the studio. Thank you to those of you who are willing to help! You will be given a pass for the night you have signed up for and you will be the only parents allowed backstage. That means that if you do not have a pass you will not be allowed back stage before or during the performance for any reason. Please trust us backstage with your kids, and tell grandmothers, family members & friends to do the same.

Second,
There will be a “drop off/pick up” point for all the children performing. NO UNAUTHORIZED PARENTS WILL BE ALLOWED PAST THIS POINT! Once dropped off, they will be walked back to the appropriate areas where they will wait for the remainder of the show. If you will be attending the performance, then you can pick your children up at the pick up area after the show. If you are not attending the performance you will be given a time that you can meet your child at the pick up area.

Third,
No children are allowed to be in the front lobby, or in the theatre area in their costume. This includes before the show! If your child has performed, and you want your child to come out and watch the remainder of the performance with you, they need a change of clothes, or they will have to remain back stage.

Fourth,
The show will last one hour and a half, so your children won’t be out too late.

Fifth,
There will be no video taping or flash cameras during performances at any time.

Sixth,
All children should come to the performance in make-up.(Rouge, eye shadow, lipstick, mascara)Children must arrive in costume, with the proper tights and shoes & appropriate hair for each dance.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding throughout this production. We know that abiding by all of the above rules and policies will help to make a more pleasant experience for all involved. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call Heidi at 801-602-9196 or email at timpschoolofdance@gmail.com.

Thank you for all of your support!Tami Meacham (Owner) Heidi Panter (Director)

October Newsletter

October 2011 Newsletter

The year is off to a great start! Your children are settling in to their new classes and the teachers are doing a great job getting a start on music for our Christmas Recital. There are just a few things that we would like to draw to your attention.

Account Balances
Please make sure that you can sign onto Studio Director and check your balance regularly. If you have any problems signing on, call Heidi and let her know and she can help you. And please go on and check to make sure your child is not registered for a class they are not supposed to be registered for and also make sure they are registered in all the classes you do want them in. This is especially important as we order costumes! If there are any changes needed, please call Heidi or email the changes to her at timpschoolofdance@gmail.com . Thank you!

Tuition
October Tuition is due. Make sure you remember our tuition policy that tuition is due by the 15 of each month. If tuition is paid after the 15th, it will be considered late and there will be a late fee of $20 charged to your account. It is really hard to pay all of our great teachers if there is not enough tuition coming in. Also, please remember that Costume Fees are due this month with tuition.

October Holiday Schedule
The studio will be closed on Thursday October 20 and Friday October 21 due to UEA. Halloween dress-up days for all Combo children (age 3-7) will be on Tuesday, October 25 and Wednesday, October 26. Your children may wear their Halloween costumes to dance class but still need their dancing shoes so they can dance. If you are not sure if your child is in a combo class, the class times are listed on the blog at www.timpschoolofdance.blogspot.com. Monday, October 31, we will be having a short schedule of classes. Sr. Co. Ballet B and Jazz A will be from 3:00-3:30. Sr. Co. Ballet A and Jazz B will be from 3:30-4:00. Sr Pointe and Jr Co. Jazz Technique will be from 4:00-4:30. Please be on time so we can get you out Trick-or-Treating at a good time! Have a happy and a safe Halloween!

“What Christmas Means to Me” Costumes
Costumes are being ordered and paid for THIS week. Your costume money is due during the 1st week of October with your tuition. We know you are used to only having a few costumes to pay for at this time, so in order to help you with this, if you have multiple girls or if your costume balance is over $100, you can split the costume fee into two months. If you want to make these arrangements, please email Heidi at timpschoolofdance@gmail.com and she will get this set up on your account. If possible, we may reuse these costumes in our Spring Recital. Please keep them nice just in case! Below is the costs for costumes (per class).

Upcoming Performance Fee
Just a reminder, there will be a $35 performance fee charged to each dancer's family (not each dancer) for our show instead of charging for admission tickets. This means that all your family members, friends, and neighbors can come and see the show for free! There will be no exceptions for this fee. If your daughter is performing, the fee will be owed. The reason is because rental of American Fork High School is very expensive. We also pay hourly for our staff, all janitors and each tech person as well. It is great to have a convenient place that is big enough for us to perform in. Just a note, we are the only outside dance studio that is allowed to continue to perform at the school and are proud that we have such a great reputation that they allow us to use it. This fee will be due the first week of December with your tuition.

Christmas Performance Chaperones
We are looking for anyone who would like to help at the Christmas Performance. There will be a sign up sheet in the studio starting in November. You will have to be back in dressing rooms watching children during the shows and dress rehearsals. We will be using our staff for other jobs, and some of them will be performing, so if you can help in this area, we would really appreciate it!

Christmas Performance Rehearsals and Pictures
Next month in the November newsletter we will let you know more details about our December Rehearsal, and the performance of "What Christmas Means to Me". Remember to mark December 17 on your calendar for rehearsal and performance! More information will be sent out later. Pictures will be on December 16 at Cory Adam’s Photography. Check the blog at timpschoolofdance.blogspot.com for the Picture schedule and Cory Adam’s address. Please bring your children to pictures! Even if you don’t order pictures, we want all of them to be in their class picture that we hang on the wall at the studio!

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call ANYTIME. 801-602-9196. We want to make this a memorable and fun experience for you child, so please let us know if there are any questions! Thank You all for your support!Tami Meacham (Owner) Heidi Panter (Director)

SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents –

We are so excited to have you all back at the studio! We welcome you and have missed you! And everyone that is new to the studio, we are so glad you have joined us! We hope you had a great summer and we are excited for some new teachers, and the upcoming year.

Please understand that MOST of the communication from this point on will be emailed to you. Please check your Studio Director account and make sure your email information is correct so you receive all correspondence. Watch for our monthly Newsletter that will be emailed sometime the first week of each new month and will be posted to our website. It is timpschoolofdance.blogspot.com. I have attached a calendar of all the days this year that the studio will be closed. Below are a few more items of information for you to go over for the month of September.

Please go to timpschoolofdance.blogspot.com and look over our policy page. Some information has changed and you need to be aware of it. You may want to bookmark this website. The blog will have a lot of information on it throughout the year. Check it often!

Tami Meacham is still the Studio Owner, but Heidi Panter is now the Studio Manager. She will have the studio phone (801-602-9196) with her at all times and she will be the one answering emails (timpschoolofdance@gmail.com). If you have any questions, please direct them to her.

We are not doing our usual Nutcracker performance this year. We have instead decided to do a recital that will involve all of the classes. It will be “What Christmas Means to Me”. We are very excited about this, and look forward to involving more of the girls in the performance. The date for this performance is on our calendar, so mark them in your personal calendars early so that your children can participate in this great show! Costume fees will be $50 per ballet or combo class, $40 for Jazz classes, and $10 for Tumbling and Hip-Hop classes. They will be due the first week in October. You will receive an email with details about what dance your child’s class has been assigned in the October Newsletter.

PARENT DROP OFF & PICK UP GUIDELINES

- Upon entering the Timpanogos School of Dance Driveway, please maintain a single file line in a circle going around the parking area starting on the right side and coming around to the “no parking zone” (on the west side of the studio by the sidewalk into the studio). This no parking zone is for STUDENTS ONLY. Please do not pull in and park or wait for students that way.

- Vehicles should pull up to the most forward spot in the circle line up before stopping. Parents should remain in the vehicle. Please do not block the “no parking zone”. Again this area is reserved for students waiting for their rides and for drop-off.

- Please wait to drop off or pick up students until you are the 1st car in the line. Then pull away and exit the parking lot so that the others behind you may pull forward.

- If you exit your car you must park along the east or south side of the yellow barn. If you are in the drop off/pick up circle please remain in your car at all times. You may also park along the road on the North side of the studio.

- If you need to run into the dance studio for any reason, you should park in the parking areas. Do not leave your car unattended in the circle.

Thank you all so much for your support, please feel free to call or email with any questions or concerns that you have about your children.

Most questions can be answered at the website, but if you need help, please feel free to call or email.

Classes Filling Up

As the start of our Fall Season nears, classes are filling up quickly! If you go online to register and it won't let you because the class is full, please put your student's name on the waitlist. Then, also register her in any other class that she may want to take. For example, if you would like your daughter in Combo 5, register her on the waitlist for that class and then also register her for Combo 6/7 or Combo 4. That way, you are guaranteed a spot in a class, but if things get shifted in the first few weeks, you may get into the Combo 5 class you are on the waitlist for. If you are wanting your daughter in Hip Hop, please put her on the waitlist. If we get enough on the waitlist, we will open another class. If you have any questions about anything, please contact Heidi at 801-602-9196 or timpschoolofdance@gmail.com.

2. Nothing can be thrown from an entry. Please notify all participants of this rule. We encourage you to walk along the sides and hand it out flyers, candy etc. but no throwing. No waterguns, orballooning. Please don’t throw anything for your safety and liability as well as those of the viewers.

June Newsletter

I can't believe that this year is coming to an end! We are all so excited to show you all what we have been working so hard on, "The Dancing Princesses" is going to be great! This will be the last newsletter that you will be receiving before our performance on June 20.

If you have not registered for fall or summer, now is the time. It's always a bummer when you wait to register and the class is full or your child doesn't get to be with their friends. You can go online and register at timpschoolofdance.blogspot.com. If somebody you know registers for classes and they are NEW to the studio, you don't have to pay your $15 registration fee!! Just email me and let me know who they are and we'll adjust your account! Classes next fall begin on Monday September 12. You will be getting a reminder email in August so that you will remember what you have registered your children for.

***We will be distributing costumes to students the week of June 13th in their class. If your child does not receive their costume in their class, I will have it at the studio for pick-up. (If you owe any money to the studio, your child will not receive their costume until your account is paid in full, this includes the tiny ones too! I have attached a summary of your account to this newsletter).

It's picture time! (Order Form will be sent home with your child's costume)

Monday morning June 20 is our picture day at Cory Adams. The schedule of times is attached. Please allow your children to come and be in the group pictures even if you do not plan on buying any pictures yourself. Your children should come dressed in their correct costume, with the right color of tights, shoes, and hair as explained on a flier in this newsletter. Also, please be on time according to the Cory Adams Schedule, they do things fast there and I would hate for anyone to miss their group picture. If you will NOT be at pictures, please email me and let me know so that we don't wait for you.
It's Show Time!! (Order Form is attached)

Attached is an order form for Big Think Marketing & Media. If you would like a DVD Copy of our performance please send a check and this order form to the studio (drop box). Make sure the check for the DVD is not written to the studio or included in your tuition. Remember there will be NO personal videotaping allowed at our show!

Monday June 20

THE DANCING PRINCESSES

AMERICAN FORK HIGH SCHOOL @ 7pm

Monday June 20

12pm - 4pm (See schedule below)

This is our MANDATORY dress rehearsal for all dancers at American Fork High School. (If your child is not there she will not be allowed to dance in our show) This is a full dress rehearsal, they need costume, tights, shoes and anything else that goes with their costume on that day. There is no need for hair or makeup at this rehearsal. If your child is in a Combo Class she will be excused after she does her dance, so have a driver there waiting for her. Please have older children bring a quiet activity to do while waiting, they will not be dancing the whole time but they need to be there the whole time. (If you know your child needs extra help sitting quietly, and not running around please feel free to stay with them the whole time.) Please do not be late, we have a lot to accomplish in a short amount of time. We will be finished around 4:45pm.

Our show that evening will start promptly at 7pm (Doors open at 6:30pm). Please have your dancers there and ready to dance by 6:30pm. If you have a little one please take her potty before you bring her to her dressing room. Just so you are aware, we will NOT be selling flowers at this performance, but feel free to bring your own if you want.

The dancers will not be allowed to come through the curtain after the last bow, they will all be taken back to their dressing room for safety reasons. January News

Welcome Back Dancers! I hope you all had a great holiday season. Congratulations on your Nutcracker performances; they were a big success! Well done!

Just a couple of things:
  • Now is the time to add classes! If your daughter, neighbor or friend is thinking about adding Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop or Tumbling to their schedule now is the time. Some classes are full already so don't wait if you are thinking about it.
  • Please make sure that your kids are in the correct classes online. I know this month there are many add on's and switches in classes just make sure that what you are registered for online is what you are really attending. It would not be a good thing to be charged for a class if you are not taking it.
  • Please remember that when there is snow, do not pull into our back parking lot UNLESS you have a 4x4 or someone to help tow you out. :) We plow the best we can but it is hard with gravel and ice.
  • Mark your calendars for Monday June 20th. This will be our next performance of The Dancing Princesses at American Fork High School.
  • Studio will be closed this month on Monday Jan 17 because of the school holiday. Happy New Year!
