Costume Crazy Week
Hi! Just a reminder that next week is Costume Crazy Week at Timp School of Dance! This means that your child can wear their Halloween costume to dance if they would like to. HOWEVER... there are a few restrictions...
1. Please make sure your child can still wear their dance shoes and dance in their costume. This is very important!
2. Please keep costumes modest, and not gory
3. No hand held props or masks
I'm excited to see all your cute costumes!!! If you don't want your child to wear a costume, that is fine, too. They can come dressed up like a dancer! :)

New Sprung Floor in Studio
Hi! Can you believe that dance starts Tuesday?!? I'm so excited! But I do want to make you all aware of a few things...
Our studio has been in the process of getting a new roof. In the heavy rains we got the other day, our roof wasn't quite done and our studio flooded. Good news is we now have a brand new roof. Bad news is quite a bit of damage was done in the studio. There has been a crew at the studio working almost 24/7 to make sure that it is in top notch condition for us to start dance Tuesday. The only problem was one of the main things that got ruined was the back studio's floor. We had to tear the floor completely out and replace it. While we were having to replace the floor, we made the decision to upgrade the floor to a professional sprung dance floor with marley on it. This, however, takes a little longer than just laying down wood. So, if you have any classes in the back studio, just know that for the first couple of weeks, we will be dancing on an unfinished wood floor. I know that is not prime conditions, however I feel like having a sprung dance floor with marley on it is going to benefit every dancer in the studio. As dancers progress and take more hours, having this floor will be better on their joints, help eliminate repetitive stress injuries and it also slip resistant. So, please be patient while we finish getting this put in. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks! I'm excited to see you next week!

April Newsletter
First of all, I
realize this newsletter has a TON of information. I just wanted to get
everything out there and on your minds. I will be sending reminder emails out,
but you may want to read through this entire newsletter. Now… (drumroll,
please)…
WE HAVE A NEW
STUDIO!!! I
am super excited to announce that we have a new studio and it’s going to be
amazing! It is located at 119 South
Pacific Drive Ste. #105 in American Fork.
It is on the North side of State Street across from Gold’s Gym and Joann
Fabrics, just South of Jack and Jill’s Bowling. Please see the attached map for
directions on how to get there. Our estimated grand opening will be June 1st.
This hasn’t been a dance studio, so they are totally remodeling it for us. We
will have two brand new studio rooms. It will be clean and safe we will have
access to it any time we want. We will be having an open house before we move
into it, so be watching for more information on that. I know this new location
is going to be wonderful and I hope you are as excited about it as I am! It is
going to be a fantastic opportunity for our children!
COMPANY CHANGES:
While we are changing locations, I am making a few other changes in our
curriculum. Starting this fall, we will have 3 companies… IMPACT Company, FUSION
Company and ELEVATE Company. Student can be on a company starting at 8 years
old now. There are a lot of benefits to being on a Company! You get discounted
rates on classes, team sweats, opportunities to perform, team building
activities, a chance at a scholarship, DVD and costumes included in Company
fee, and more! Our staff feels like
having mandatory classes will benefit students and result in their maximum
growth. I want Timp School of Dance to continue to be a premier studio in Utah
County, so we are offering this new Company set-up. I don’t want students to
feel like they have to be on a Company, however. If anyone decides that they
just want to take one or two classes, they are more than welcome to take any of
the classes that are not Company classes. There will be technique classes
offered in Jazz and Ballet as well as the elective classes of Turns, Lyrical,
Contemporary, Hip Hop and Tumbling. There
is also a Company prep class for students who would like to be on a team but
aren’t quite ready. Every student is important to me, whether they take 20
classes or take only one class. Companies are by invitation only. I will be
sending out emails to each student with suggested classes on it to take in the
fall. You will find out on that paper if you are invited to be on a company. If
you are invited to be on a Company, there will be more information supplied at
that time.
LOGO CHANGE: As
you may have noticed, we are also changing our studio colors to Teal, Purple
and Black! It will be fun to see these new colors on our Studio Sweats that we
will be ordering!!! More information will be coming on that soon.
FALL REGISTRATION:
Fall
registration will open on May 1st. Prior to that, I will be
consulting with the teachers and I will send you a list of suggested classes
for your child to take this fall. To register, just go to www.timpschoolofdance.blogspot.com
and click on the Registration button. It should take you right to Studio
Director. Click on the button that says Fall 2013-Spring 2014. It will pull up
the class schedule and you can register from there. If you have problems
accessing Studio Director, please feel free to call me or email me and I will
help you get registered. There are going to be a few changes in how classes are
set up. Please review the attached Fall Schedule and class description pages.
Contact me with any question you may have. THE FIRST 15 PEOPLE TO REGISTER FOR
FALL CLASSES AND PAY THEIR REGISTRATION FEE WILL RECEIVE A CODE FOR A FREE
TICKET TO THE WIZARD OF OZ SHOW! If you register and pay your registration fee
for Fall classes in the month of May, you will receive $5 off your registration.
If you refer someone new to our studio and they register for classes, you will
receive a $15 credit to your account. You can also let them know that if they
transfer from a different studio to ours, I will totally waive their
registration fee.

Just a reminder that payments are due by the 15th of the month or
there is a late fee charged to your account. If you haven’t gotten on auto-pay

going to need, we will be having a pre-rehearsal at the studio on Saturday,

also so the rehearsal on the 17th will run smoothly . I will send
more information about times out with next month’s newsletter. We will also be
having pictures that day at the studio. Cory Adams will be coming to the studio
and I will try to schedule pictures for times when you will already have to be
there for rehearsal. The main Dress Rehearsal at the Covey Center will be on
Monday, June 17th from 9:00-4:00. I will send out a specific time schedule
for this soon.

extra per transaction to do it online or by phone. Tickets will go quickly, so

BACKSTAGE HELP AND
USHERS NEEDED: I am going to need quite a bit of
Backstage help (I’m thinking around 8 people) and 4 ushers for the show. If you
or someone you know would be interested in helping, please let me know. Email
me at timpschoolofdance@gmail.com.
Each person that helps will be given a
code for a free ticket to the show.
Please
watch for more information to come soon. I will be sending out costume lists,

read your emails! J

Performance Information
Our performance is almost here and I am so excited! The kids have been working very hard. I have attached a picture schedule and a dress rehearsal schedule in case you don't have the one I sent earlier.
Please try to be at pictures on Saturday even if you are not ordering pictures. It is much nicer when everyone is in the class picture.
Just a few things to remember for the performance...
Make sure your child's shoes and tights are clean and remind them to tuck their laces!
No Gum!
No food in the Covey Center.
House doors will open at the Covey Center at 7:00pm for the performance. There will be no seat saving. Please don't leave personal items in the auditorium to try to save seats. The Box Office will collect them before they open the doors and then not only will you have lost your seats, but your stuff as well.
There will be no personal videoing at the performance. We have a professional videographer recording the show. If you would like a recording, please contact me before the performance and order a DVD. They are $20. Please don't plan on "sneaking" a video during the performance. There will be box office workers watching to make sure cameras are not videoing, because it does interrupt the professional recording. If you would like a personal recording, you can do so during the dress rehearsal.
Please remember basic audience courtesy. No wolf calling or hollering during the dances. Be respectful of those around you.
Make sure you child's make-up and hair are done how they are supposed to be.
Mark all of your child's things with their name so nothing gets lost!
Have your child take a bathroom break before they go back to their dressing rooms.
Thank you so much! I can't wait for you to see the show! Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!
