Class Descriptions

Combo 1 Mom and Tot- (ages 2-3)
This is a introductory class for young dancers that are wanting to get into the studio. A parent will be expected to accompany the student in the class room. The class will consist of a lot of creative movement and some exercises for the parent that will involve using the student in the exercise. A fun class for some mom and me time.

Combo Classes Ages 3-5
(combo refers to ballet, jazz and creative dance into one class)
Children's Combination Class is geared for ages 3 through 5. We cover basic creative, ballet & jazz movements. Some times a teacher will do some tumbling like summer-saults on mats. No pre-requisites are required. Our teachers create a fun and exciting atmosphere to begin their dance journey. At age 5 you can add tumbling or hip-hop to your training.

Combo 6 Classes
(combo refers to both ballet and Jazz combined into one class)
Our combo 6 classes are for those children still not ready to make a jump to two hours of dance a week but still get the benefits of a jazz and ballet class combined. At this age you can add tumbling or hip-hop to your training.

Ballet Level 1-Company Ballet
Ballet classes range from beginning to advanced. We start with the basics, learning the positions, ensuring correct form. Ballet is a necessity for proper dance training. As the student progresses, pointe shoes will be introduced.
Barre work and work at center floor will be done.

Jazz Level 1-Company Jazz
In these classes we start with the basic movements and increase in difficulty while still focusing on technique, preparing students for dance opportunities. We teach the latest styles and techniques. Kids love the upbeat music and time with their friends.

Hip Hop
Hip hop allows kids & teenagers to let loose and have some fun. It allows a positive environment for expression and physical activity. Kids that are older and have little or no dance experience love these classes because they can keep up with their age group. We make sure that all movements are "clean".

Tumbling
Tumbling is floor work from gymnastics all done on mats. We start with simple rolls, cartwheels, and back bends and work up to hand springs and back tucks as the student's skill level allows. As floor work improves the child advances.

Contemporary
Contemporary dance is the exploration of the total movement potential of the body. It draws on both classical ballet and modern dance. It can include elements from African dance or Japanese dance as well as Western style dances. This class is for more advanced dancers.

Lyrical
Lyrical dance is very similar to ballet, combining the many technical elements of classical ballet with the freedom, fluidity, expressiveness and airier aspects of jazz, contemporary and modern dance. It is typically considered a sub-category of jazz and/or contemporary dance. A solid ballet-based technique is suggested in order to take this class. This class is combined with Turns.

Turns
Turns is considered a jazz class extension. Turns class will focus on jazz turns and work on proper technique. Students will gain better muscle memory by continually working on their turns. This class is combined with Lyrical.

Technique Classes
Technique classes are just that... classes that focus on just technique. There is no choreography done in these classes, which means these classes do not perform in any recital or show. Great classes to add with other classes to get more class time and perfect your technique.

Beginning Teen Technique
This is a class for older students (11-17) that have not taken dance classes or have only taken a few and would like to learn the basic technique required to dance with out having to start with young children. Beginning jazz technique will be taught at a quick pace. This class will be in all recitals.

Beginning Cheer
For 5+ to learn the basic skills of cheer. Sharpness, confidence, dance, jumps, pom pons, kicks, and beginning tumbling and stunts will all be covered in this class.
